Leiren laks is a business that processes salmon, wild salmon and rainbow trout as previous generations have always done on the farm.
We are staying in the small Vestlandsbygda Stamnes, deep in the Osterfjorden.
Here, salmon and trout have been fished for years from our salmon gill, an incredible structure located on a mountain ledge 20m above the fjord. It was the coveted Vossolak that was caught. It was known for its very good quality. Smoking fish was a natural part of life and food on the farm and it was naturally served in festive occasions.
In the heart of Osterfjorden in the small village of Stamnes, the first thing that meets you are the old salmon gills that
still stands above steep rock edges by the fjord.
